Griesel was named House Parliamentarian in 2011 and served as Assistant Parliamentarian prior to this appointment. He previously served as the Supreme Court’s rules attorney where he advised jurists on legal and practical matters, including analyses of how new laws affect the civil justice system. He also served as counsel for the Texas Legislative Council from February 1992 until September 2000, drafting legislation and counseling members of the Texas Legislature and their staffs on legal matters. Griesel, a 1985 graduate of Texas A&M University and a 1988 cum laude graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law, was in private practice from August 1989 until February 1992, but began his legal career as a briefing attorney for Chief Justice Tom Phillips in August 1988. Griesel, a Dallas native, is married and the father of two children.
